Gannet Head

A private headland, four residences, one family at a time.

Where the escarpment meets the Tasman, the day is measured in tides.

Forty acres of coastal heath. No neighbours but the gannets.

The Estate

A house built to listen to the sea

Gannet Head began as a 1931 lighthouse keeper's cottage. Today it is a sandstone and spotted-gum retreat for up to twelve guests, reimagined by a Sydney studio around three things: light, salt air and silence. You book the headland, not a room.

Morning

First light on the escarpment

Wake to whales passing below the cliff from May to November. Coffee from the estate roaster, sourdough baked in the wood oven overnight.

Midday

The long table

A twelve-seat spotted-gum table, a private chef on request, and South Coast oysters shucked at the bench.

Evening

Linen, stone and sea air

Every suite opens to the sound of the water. Hand-loomed linen, Tasmanian oak floors and deep stone baths.

Night

Heat, then cold

A cedar sauna on the rock shelf and an ocean pool filled by the tide. The Milky Way, uninterrupted.

The residences

Four houses across the headland, booked together as one estate.
